갓포아키 (Kappo Akii) is without question one of the top Japanese izakaya in Seoul.

Kappo Akii has 5 locations – (1) Gangnam Dosan Park (2) Cheongdam (near Apgujung Rodeo Station) and (3) Yeoido (Glad Hotel, 14th Floor) (4) French Village (5) Jeju. All 5 locations serve the identical menu except for the French Village. In addition to the Kappo Akii izakaya empire that they are building, they owned and operated another “boutique” izakaya called 보양식당온 in Cheongdam. The French Village will serve the standard Kappo Akii menu in addition to items from the 보양식당온 restaurant.

A cold egg starter dish.
Hokkaido Uni (Sea Urchin). Super high quality by taste and price. It wasn’t cheap – KRW 59,000 ($50)
The classic and signature grilled fish – The Geumtae.(금태) – blackthroat seaperch or Nodoguro in Japanese. If you love fish then it’s a Must order. MUST! They grill it so slow and long that there is no choice for this grilled fish to be so moist and juicy. The fish itself is naturally oily so that assists with the moistness of every bite.
The fish + rice pot.
Blood clam sashimi
The classic Japanese sukiyaki dish with slices of hanwoo beef
Hanwoo steak cubes plus uni (sea urchin)
Beef brisket steamed.
