한남 타츠 | Hannam Tatsu

This is a relatively new entrant in the Seoul izakaya scene. It’s been around for about 9 months but I just recently found out about it. It’s located in Hannam Dong in the alleyway in front of the The Hill apartments.

The exterior and interior is snazzy and hip. The food menu is extensive. It’s open everyday including on Sunday’s. The food is great. The only downside, and a very big one, is that a lot of the dish portions are huge and matching prices reflecting the quantity. For example, you can only order one one size of the futomaki (8 pieces). Other izakayas (i.e, all of the places that I frequent – Kappo Akii, Caden, Miyavi, Kaeru) include an option for half (4-5 pieces ) or full (8 – 10) futomaki. If you want to prefer the tuna sashimi with prosciutto, then expect to share 10 large pieces.

If you’re going to come here with two people, forget about it. The maximum number of dishes that you can order is about 2 dishes.

It’s worth a visit though. It is strongly recommended that you make reservations.

The basic appetizers that come out to each table. Changes daily.

Very good dish.
The is the 한우스지조림 | Hanwoo Seuji Jorim – Braised Hanwoo beef tendon. This was probably one of my favorite dishes.
Fried squid with black squid ink
Jeju-Do Silver Hairtaill fish stuffed with Enoki mushroom
Sweet ebi shrimp with uni (sea urchin)
Fried chicken pieces with homemade tartar sauce. The tartar sauce was outstanding. Thick, crunchy, filled with texture.
Broiled maeru fish head.
bThe super delicious futomaki roll. See the white pieces in the roll? That’s cream cheese.
