도꼭지 (대흥역) – Dokkokji serves up braised and broiled fishes, 솥밥(steamed rice with various fillings of vegetables and seafood), 재육볶음(stir fried spicy pork) and other seasonal Korean menu dishes.
Adjacent to Dokkokji is also a very popular Japanse tonaksu restaurant – Yoon Seok. There is always a wait there too. If there is a long wait for Dokkokji, you may want to check out Yoon Seok but then again I think there will be a long wait there as well.
I believe the two restaurants are related – they share the same entrance, same style signage, same menu presentation underneath the signage, sharing the same waitlist sheet, same serving plates, etc.
For lunch, all of the fish and pork stir-fry can be ordered as a set menu – Fish + 솥밥(rice with seasonal vegetable ingredients).
For dinner, you can order different preparations of fish (broiled or braised) as la carte in addition to raw yellowtail sashimi while it is still in season.
This restaurant was featured on the tvN foodie TV show – 수요미식회- Wednesday Foodie Roundtable hence its popularity.
I stopped by for lunch and ordered the Jeju hairtail fish set menu. It was very fresh and delicious. Not sure I would order the Jeju hairtail set. For the quantity of fish presented and the price charged, I would just go for the mackerel. I am sure that the hairtail fish was super fresh and delicious and worth W18,000 but my unsophisticated taste buds couldn’t discern the additional W4 – 5,000 premium surcharge. A fair share of customers ordered the spicy stir fry pork as this dish was highlighted in the 수요미식회TV show.
I will be going back for dinner and trying the seasonal menu.
