코스모스시 (Eunpyeong Gu) – This omakase place is way out in northwestern Seoul. I only found out about it because it appeared on the tvN food tv show – 수요미식회 (Wednesday Night Foodie Round Table). Their claim to fame is the shari (sushi rice) mixed with black squid ink. It’s been open since June 2018.

The signature sushi dish of the night was not fish but rather the Hanwoo beef – 한우 ++ 살치살 topped with truffle oil and sea salt. I think everyone in the group said that piece was 대박. Incredible. As the term omakase, at the chef’s discretion.

Overall conclusion: Worth it. The fish was fresh and delicious. The interior cozy and homy. The sushi chef-owner was charismatic and welcoming. Great service. Omakae is only KRW 70,000.

I was “curious” as to Korean only liquor (i.e., no sake, shoju..). I was pleasantly surprised. Good price points. There was 14%, 20% and 30%.

Will definitely be back…for sure.

Scallop on a potato puree
Sashimi combo
Steamed abalone with a ball of rice in abalone intestine sauce.
Tuna
Black squid ink shari
The main star of the evening – the Hanwoo ++ 살치살. Look at that marbalation….the fat.
Truffle oil to be sprayed on the beef.
This is the beef sashimi sushi. It had been slightly cooked so it wasn’t completely raw. SO GOOD.
