히까리 – Hikari (Gangnam – Nonhyeondong) – This omakase-izakaya establishment has been around for 6 years. The sushi-chef has been there for just a year. He’s changed up the W90,000 omakase menu a bit. How? By adding more dishes. The owner has worked in the kitchen of the Westin Chosun Hotel’s Sushi Cho for 16 years. He was in the back of the kitchen at Hikari handling all of the cooked dishes – chawanmushi, deep fry, grill and dessert.

They noted that their signature dish was the hot udon noodle soup with mackerel that had been steamed and then grilled. You are instructed to drink the soup and eat some of the udon noodles first without eating the fish until you’re about halfway down to the boil. Then break up the mackerel fish so that the natural oils are integrated and assimilated into the noodle broth thus tingling the tastebuds with a new taste.

This was my first time here. Not bad. Would come back again. The omakase counter only has 6 seats.

They have Suntory beer but not on draft. Only Kloud.
Chef only uses real wasabi grated from the root for the omakase customers. There were some customers seated at the table that ordered a sashimi platter and he used processed tubed wasabi.

The chef threw an extra piece of uni (sea urchin) on the futomaki roll.
The signature hot udon dish with mackerel. It was delicious
Dessert. A sweet-sour umeboshi with slices of cucumber in nori (seaweed laver)
